iPhone Setup
Works without headphones
The phone mic and speaker work fine on their own. Spark stops listening while it speaks, so there is no feedback loop. Headphones just make it more comfortable outdoors.
Open in Safari
Voice recognition only works in Safari on iPhone. Chrome and other browsers on iOS do not support it.
sparkast.ai/capture
Add to Home Screen
This makes it run full-screen with no browser chrome in the way.
- 1. Tap the Share button (box with arrow at bottom of Safari)
- 2. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen
- 3. Tap Add in the top right
Optional but recommended for tractor use.
Allow microphone access
When you tap Start Session for the first time, Safari will ask for microphone permission.
Tap Allow.
If you accidentally tapped Don't Allow: go to Settings → Safari → Microphone and set it to Allow.
Turn off auto-lock
If your screen locks mid-session, the mic stops and won't restart until you tap the screen.
Before you head out:
- 1. Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock
- 2. Set to Never
- 3. Remember to turn it back on after
The app requests a wake lock automatically but iOS doesn't always honour it.
Download the Premium voice
The default iOS voice is robotic. The Premium voice sounds natural and is much easier to listen to for long sessions.
- 1. Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content
- 2. Tap Voices
- 3. Tap English
- 4. Tap Australian
- 5. Tap the download icon next to Lee (Premium)
The download is about 200MB. Do it on Wi-Fi. Spark automatically uses Lee once downloaded.
Brightness for outdoors
Turn brightness to maximum before heading out. Swipe down from top-right corner to open Control Centre, drag the brightness slider to the top.
During the session
After the session
Your session is saved automatically as you go. When you get back to your desk, open sparkast.ai/brainstorm and hit Extract context to turn the conversation into context blocks for review.
